Pharma Mini Career Event: Supporting Your Colleagues in Their New Career Journey
Purpose:
The purpose of the panel session is to provide insights from the perspective of industry professionals, coaches and jobseekers on job seeking after a career transition as LGBTQI+ within the STEM/life science field.
Summary:
The panel session will focus of how it is to present your true self in a job-seeking environment, particularly after a career transition.
This session will allow a discussion to begin surrounding the challenges of job hunting as a LGBTQI+ person within the life science sector and how to overcome this. With our own lived experiences as well as the countless years of experience as industry-leading coaches, recruiters and early career starter in this exact field will allow us to truly give an overview of how to be resilient in such a difficult area.
Finding a job requires resilience and is often a lonely activity which counters what queer people have historically required: community. However, with building up a network of advice, we will allow people to feel connected and apply for jobs with intention as their true queer selves.
Expected outcomes:
- Improve attendees capacity to look for jobs with intent, with advice from industry professionals and coaches
- Aid candidates to feel confident as who they are, with their differences and present as their true selves
